In 730, in Karina, she fell in with Scar Tabor's gang, and fell in love with one of his men, Erik. There, she met Kerri, who was tricked into providing a distraction while the gang stole from revellers at the Carnival. Later, she bribed one of the town guard to insure that Kerri would be hanged. At the Dog Fights, she talked with Ludovic about their shared past, but they were interrupted when a fight broke out, and Erik was killed. In grief, she fled Karina, and was soon spotted in Zeidenburg. From Zeidenburg, she went to Krezk, where she had an ill-fated encounter with Jacqueline Montarri and fled to Vallaki. There she stayed at the Blue Water Inn, and found clues linking Kerri, Ludovic, Duffy, Jerrard, and Leif to Dr. Van Richten. Enraged that they had "lied" to her about knowing him, she took their belongings to a Thaani seer in Vallaki, who touched Leif's bag of rations and said he felt the owner's home nearby in Krezk. At the address the seer gave, she met Conrad Shadowlands, with whom she fell instantly in love. She and Conrad courted for a year, and were married for four when, in 735, they moved to Port-a-lucine, where she took work as a scribe, while encouraging Conrad to start a new career as a sculptor. She sought to bring him up through the classes of high society, as her late fiance Metus had done for her long ago.

When the happy couple went out for a night of theater, they unexpectedly crossed paths with Kerri, Ludovic, Leif, Duffy, and Samuel, who were trapped in the clutches of LeMot Sediam Juste and his theater. At Conrad's behest, Cynthia freed them from Juste's illusions, and attempted to make amends for her past treatment of them. Although she refused to believe Samuel's claims that her beloved Metus was a vampire, she no longer desired revenge on Van Richten, preferring to remain happy with Conrad. But later, when Conrad failed to live up to Metus's example, she turned on him. At the same time, The Mist she dreaded, the spirit of Baron Metus, caught up with them and attempted to kill Conrad. He was saved by the timely arrival of Kerri, Ludovic, Leif, and Duffy, who destroyed the Mist of Metus, and apparently Cynthia as well. But Cynthia's body dissovled into a puddle of tears, which slithered outside and seeped into the cracks of the Port-a-lucine street. She has not been seen since.

It has since been discovered that Baron Metus was in the process of turning Cynthia into a Vampire Bride when he was killed, leaving her a state trapped between life and death. Not quite human, but not quite a vampire, she was something else (a Vorlog, although the group doesn't know this word), cursed to forever seek out men who remind her of her lost love, Metus.
