Madame Natasha
Madame Natasha was a canjar vistani medium, gifted with The Sight of her
people, as well as Ghostsight, and the ability to channel spirits into her body
without pain. A puzzle even to the raunie of her tribe, she probed ever deeper
beyond the veil of death, eventually driving herself insane trying to perfect an
ability she called The Whisper of a Thousand Voices. After a humbling cure by
the giorgio Dr. Illhausen, she left her caravan without a word. She returned
years later with an infant, Ludovic. She would not say anything
about the child's father, although it was clear he must have been a giorgio.
Nor would she reveal why she'd had the child at all, when those of her
mysterious tribe rarely did so. Tired of the probing questions her son
stirred among her kin, she set out with him to wander alone.
In 718 in the town of Rivalis, Darkon, her wandering would end. A woman, Cynthia DeGrieves, asked Natasha to consult the spirits to find Dr.
Rudolph Van Richten, and she did. But the spirit she channeled, a strange
white mist, turned on her, and Natasha was only able to croak out the word
"Mordent" before the mist killed her, turning red as it left her body. Her
young son was left to fend for himself, with the memory of his mother's death
seared into his dreams.
